I won’t start this post decrying the world-wide recession/depression/re-distribution of wealth thing. I think we all know what is up. I’m here not to point out the obvious, but to point out the less than obvious great places to eat and visit. I find myself pressed for cash. Imagine that. I retired in 2006 and became a full time college student. I graduated in May of 2009 (YAAH) but am now looking at student loan payments, etc. I want to mention that my desire to travel, eat, and find quality entertainment is inversely proportional to my income at this point in time. So, I have to cut back, but instead of staying home eating peanut butter, (Which i am doing more often now) when I get out, I want a deal on food, travel, lodging and entertainment. I will be looking around.
I am going to share my finds with you all, and hopefully you will share yours with me on this fan page. On my old TV show I went all around our region and the US videotaping all the events I saw and brought them back for all to see. Now with the interwebs, you can join in the fun. Thats what I want to do here. Cheap Travel, Eats and Entertainment-On the Scene with Ed. Be interactive! Tell us all your favorite cheap and delicious places to eat! Tell us about travel deals, faraway or close. Tell us about cheap or free entertainment! Look for more pics and videos from me. Make sure they are good, cause I will be coming to look at them when I can! Take pictures too!
I find myself more often broke than not. I doesn’t stop my lust for travel.

Barcelona Spain. The world is smaller than you think.
9 07 2009Thats BARTHELONA to you
Barcelona Spain is a city much like others of its size in Europe. Very modern in its architecture and in its amenities, yet parts are more than 2 centuries old with Byzantine cobblestone streets and history around every corner. Now, there are modern pharmacies and clothing boutiques on every corner, and Spain continues to change almost 40 years after the last Fascist regime from WWII ended with the death of Francisco Franco. Barcelona has taken its regional identity and used it to prosper and to identify itself as a different, more cosmopolitan entity. Tourists swarm the medieval streets with detailed maps of nooks and crannies that are built into the winding web of old Barcelona, known as Bari Gotic. The interesting thing about the influx of tourism is that a good portion of it comes from Spanish families from other parts of the Iberian peninsula that visit the seaport town. The city has taken great pains to install signs in three different languages at various locations, one in Catalan, the regional dialect, one in Spanish and one in English. A ten minute walk away from the busy port, with Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruise line ships berthing there, takes one to the quieter avenues and restaurants that are frequented by locals. One gets to see a different view of Barcelona (Pronounced by the locals with a “th” in place of the “c”), one that is inviting and different than other European cities of its size. This is the part of the city that will take ones heart and mind.

Who is this “Ed Faunce”, and why is he always eating?
9 03 2009Everyone asks this question. There is no one answer, but suffice it to say, Ed Faunce is an actor, graduate student and obviously a traveling gourmand who gets bored easily and looks around for deals on all of the aforementioned travel, food and entertainment. It is both a hobby and a vocation of Ed’s to travel and tell stories, as you will note he also carries a video and a photographic camera with him. Check out the adventures of Ed Faunce both here and on Cheap Travel, Eats and Entertainment :On the Scene with Ed Faunce on Facebook too.
